The Nelson couple Richard and Elina Ussher have become the first husband and wife to win the Coast to Coast multisport event in the same year.
Richard had won the 243-kilometre one day race four times previously and Elina once.
Richard completed the event in 11 hours 33 minutes and 24 seconds while his wife finished in 13 hours 25 minutes and 24 seconds.
Christchurch's Neelu Memon became the first legally blind person to complete the event, competing in the two-day race with two friends racing in support.
