The All Black Sonny Bill Williams has won the vacant New Zealand heavyweight boxing title with a first-round win over Clarence Tillman.

After early sparring, Williams caught his American opponent with a big left hook from which he never recovered.

As Tillman wobbled around the ring, Williams chased after him throwing repeated right hands until the referee dived in to halt the contest with the New Orleans-born fighter hanging onto the ropes.

Williams, who improved his record to 5 and 0 with 3 knock-outs, now will head back to preseason training with The Chiefs ahead of the Super-15 season.
