The New Zealand men's hockey team has gone 2-0 up in the five-match series against South Korea after winning the second Test 3-2 in Auckland.

The Black Sticks led 1-0 at half-time through Kane Russell, with Hugo Inglis and Simon Child adding second half goals.

Goalkeeper Kyle Pontifex, who was celebrating his 32nd birthday, had an outstanding game keeping the Koreans out until the 60th minute.

Coach Shane McLeod says they were far more controlled and dominated in key areas of the game.

The third match is in Auckland on Thursday night.
