Scholes rejoins Manchester United

Former England midfielder Paul Scholes came out of retirement and played for Manchester United in their successful FA Cup third round tie at Manchester City after signing a short-term deal until the end of the season.

The 37-year-old, who retired at the end of last season, replaced Nani after 59 minutes of the match with Manchester United winning 3-1 at the time.

He was surprisingly named among the substitutes for the tie following a succession of injury problems United have suffered this season, with central midfielders Tom Cleverley, Darren Fletcher and Anderson ruled out for large chunks of the campaign.
