Lakers and Mavericks beaten again

5:47 am on 28 December 2011

The Los Angeles Lakers continued their stumbling start to a new era with a 100-91 road loss to the Sacramento Kings as the visitors matched their poorest opening to an NBA basketball campaign for nine years... losing their first 2 matches

Following their fourth-quarter meltdown against the Chicago Bulls on Christmas Day, the Lakers were overpowered by the young Kings, leaving new coach Mike Brown still searching for his first victory since taking over in the off-season.

Meanwhile defending champions Dallas looked nothing like the team that lifted the trophy last June as they stumbled to a second defeat in as many nights, a 115-93 defeat by the Denver Nuggets.
