The Zimbabwe cricket captain Brendan Taylor hopes his time with Wellington will make him feel right at home come Zimbabwe's tour here next month.
Taylor is one of three imports Wellington has signed for the domestic Twenty20 competition and made his debut for the province alongside Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan in the opening loss to Auckland yesterday.
The 25 year old Taylor was in good form against New Zealand on the Black Caps recent tour of Zimbabwe scoring two one day centuries and a test century.
He took over the captaincy role earlier this year and concedes there was a time given the political situation in Zimbabwe he thought he might not get to play at test level.
After a six year absence Zimbabwe returned to test cricket earlier this year but Taylor concedes two to three years ago he thought that may not be the case.
He says there is no longer a quota system in place and several prominent players from the past are now involved in running the game which has helped their resurgence.
