Adelaide win battle of ANBL bottom feeders

The Adelaide 36ers took out the battle of the Australian National Basketball League cellar-dwellers with a polished 87-63 triumph over the Wollongong Hawks at Adelaide Arena.

The 36ers were the better side throughout, setting up the win with a dominant first-half display.

Forward Diamon Simpson (22 points) and towering centre Daniel Johnson (21) were in fine form for the 36ers, while Joevan Catron (19) was most dangerous for a Hawks team that again struggled to score.

A late Hawks challenge failed to materialise in the final term, and the 36ers could relax for the first time this season, the result keeping their slim finals hopes alive.

Adelaide are second to last on the ladder in eighth place while the Hawks remain dead last in ninth.
