Dunedin stadium management happy with smaller crowd

The first A-League football match played in Dunedin's new covered stadium attracted a crowd about a third the size of the crowd for the pre-season match the Wellington Phoenix played there.

About 4600 people watched the Phoenix beat Brisbane 2-0, compared with about 15,000 in August when the Australian side won 5-1.

But Forsyth Barr stadium's commercial manager says the crowd figure is close to what they'd expected .as most students have left Dunedin till next year.

Guy Headderwick says they made money and Football Federation Australia is pleased with the turnout.
