The former New Zealand cricket captain, coach and selector, Glenn Turner, says the Black Caps batsmen's lack of self-critique is the major cause of their inability to score runs in the test match arena.
The top order again stuttered in yesterday's nine wicket loss to Australia in the first test in Brisbane, with the Black Caps all out for a paltry 150 just after lunch having started day four with 9 wickets in hand.
The capitulation was highlighted by a horror spell in which the Black Caps lost 3 wickets in one over in the first half hour of play and Turner says the batsmen must take ownership of their personal failings.
Meanwhile the Black Caps have called Northern Districts paceman, Brent Arnel, into the squad for the second and final test starting in Hobart in Friday.
