The chief executive of Northern Districts Cricket David Cooper says the next step needs to be taken in the privatisation of the six major associations.
The idea is for the Auckland, Northern and Central Districts, Wellington, Canterbury and Otago to look at selling off up to 50 percent of their ownership to outside investors.
It is understood a new company would be setup, by New Zealand Cricket, to run the 3 domestic competitions.
Cooper says there is a need to make the Associations sustainable and there have been a number of discussions over the past 12 to 18 months involving New Zealand Cricket, the associations and the players.
But he says there's still a huge amount of work before any plans are produced
