The New Zealand men's hockey team has been beaten 5-3 by Australia in the final of the Super Series nine-a-side tournament in Sydney.
The Kookaburras, who thrashed New Zealand 7-1 earlier in the tournament, were heavy favourites in the grand final of the inaugural event excelling in the the new rules introduced at the tournament which include bigger goals and more relaxed rules on stick and foot violations.
The Black Sticks drew level in the second thanks to 2 goals from Blair Hilton and one to Stephen Jenness, before the homeside took the game out.
Australia also won the women's final, beating India 4-1.
