Cotterill to leave Portsmouth for Nottingham

11:30 am on 15 October 2011

The Portsmouth manager Steve Cotterill says he's agreed to become the new manager of former European football champions Nottingham Forest, although neither club has yet made an official announcement about his appointment.

Cotterill, who had been at Portsmouth since June last year, says the deal's been finalised but he hasn't yet signed any papers.

Forest, who won back-to-back European Cups in 1979 and 1980 but are now just above the relegation zone in the Championship (second tier), parted company with former England coach Steve McClaren 12 days ago after a dismal start to the season.

Cotterill's appointment comes two days after former Forest player Frank Clark was appointed chairman.
