South Africa's named their most experienced lineup yet to tackle the Wallabies in Sunday's World Cup quarter-final in Wellington, boasting a record 836 Test caps.

Lock Bakkies Botha is flying home with his achilles injury and is likely to be replaced should the Springboks win.

The impressive Danie Rossouw has retained his place in the second row alongside vice-captain Victor Matfield.

Wingers JP Pietersen and Bryan Habana have both overcome injuries to be named in the team for Saturday's quarter-final in Wellington, and hooker John Smit returns to lead the side after he started their final pool match on the bench.
