The United Arab Emirates footballer Theyab Awana, who became a YouTube celebrity after scoring a back-heeled penalty in a friendly international earlier this year, has been killed in a car crash in Abu Dhabi.
21-year-old Awana will be remembered for his audacious penalty in a 6-2 friendly win over Lebanon in July and the clip received more than 1.2 million hits on Youtube.
His last game for UAE was in last week's goalless draw against Australia in an Olympic qualifying match.
