The Manawatu golfer Tim Wilkinson has finished in a share of sixth place at the latest Nationwide Tour event in California.
Wilkinson went into the final round one shot off the lead but after two early birdies, a bogey on the 14th ended his title hopes as he finished with a two under-par 69.
The result moves him up to 66th on tour rankings but he probably needs to win one of the final four events to finish in the top 25 and return to the top tier PGA Tour.
The New Zealand number one Danny Lee, who was disqualified in round two when he was nine over after nine holes, remains 14th on the standings and appears assured of his PGA Tour card for the first time.
