Marsh endorses Mickey Arthur for Australia's top coaching job

Australian test newcomer Shaun Marsh says former South Africa cricket supremo Mickey Arthur would make a great coach of Australia if he decided to take on the role.

Australia is on the lookout for a new coach after Tim Nielsen stepped down following the 1-nil Test series win over Sri Lanka.

With a tour of South Africa on the horizon, Australia may be forced to appoint an interim coach while officials search for a full-time replacement.

Arthur, who is in his second year of a three-year contract with Western Australia, says he would consider taking on the job.

Steve Rixon, Justin Langer, and Tom Moody are others in line for the head role.

Marsh who plays under Arthur for Western Australia believes he would excel in the position if he decided to apply for it.

Marsh says Arthur has a great cricket brain and communicates well with his players.
