Vaughan wants New Zealander to replace him

Outgoing New Zealand Cricket chief executive Justin Vaughan says a New Zealander should replace him in the role.

Vaughan announced yesterday that he would be standing down at the end of November after almost five years in the job.

He has overseen the controversial Australianisation of New Zealand Cricket management with Australians appointed to two leading roles at New Zealand Cricket headquarters recently - former Australia coach John Buchanan as Director of Cricket and Kim Littlejohn at national selection manager.

He says while there are people from other nationalities in key positions in New Zealand cricket to drive the best performance out of the elite area he says there are New Zealanders with just as much to offer and says it should be a kiwi who takes over from him.
