The Spanish cyclist Juan Jose Cobo holds a 13-second lead over Britain Chris Froome but is taking nothing for granted heading into Monday's final stage of the Tour of Spain.
With 32 bonus seconds up for grabs on the 95-kilometre run into Madrid, Cobo said he will not be able to relax.
Team Sky's Froome said he would press Cobo all the way.
Bennati took stage honours on Sunday, showing solid form ahead of the world championships later this month.
