New Zealand has finished 23rd at the squash world teams championships at Paderborn, Germany.

The team of Martin Knight, Campbell Grayson, Evan Williams and Paul Coll were the 15th seeds but a tough pool with eventual champions Egypt and an upset against Hong Kong and other nations saw them play off against Argentina for 23rd position out of 32 teams.

New Zealand No1 Martin Knight easily defeated Gonzalo Miranda in 35 minutes while Wellington's Evan Williams had to fight hard for a while to overcome Roberto Pezzota in five games in 49 minutes.

As a result of the overall contest being decided the final match featuring Campbell Grayson was not played.

Earlier in play off matches New Zealand had fallen to 12th seeds Pakistan 2-0, although Campbell Grayson had a tough five game match eventually losing in 59 minutes 13-15 in the fifth.
