The Malaysian entrepreneur Tony Fernandes has completed his takeover of the English Premier League football club Queens Park Rangers, and promised to take the club to new heights in the next few years.

The 47 year old owner of the Lotus Formula One team and the successful budget airline AirAsia, completed a deal to buy the promoted London club when he bought out the majority shareholder Bernie Ecclestone and former Renault F1 boss Flavio Briatore.

Fernandes, who makes no secret of the fact he is a fan of West Ham United and has tried to buy the club, was presented to the media at the club's Loftus Road ground, alongside the team's manager Neil Warnock, who got the new owner's full backing.
