Rain ruins day one of final test in London

Rain washed out play after lunch on the first day of the fourth and final England-India cricket test at the Oval in London, frustrating the home side's bid for a series whitewash.

The England openers Andrew Strauss and Alastair Cook put on 75 runs before the rain, which had been lurking all morning, finally descended half an hour into the lunch break.
