The All Black halfback Piri Weepu will play his Super Rugby in Auckland next season after signing a one-year deal with the Blues.
The 27-year-old says he's had some great years with the Hurricanes but his contract was up and while he wanted to continue playing in New Zealand, he felt it was time for something different.
Weepu is expected to play at both number nine and at first five for the Auckland-based franchise.
Blues coach Pat Lam says Weepu's decision is great news as his ability in both playmaker jerseys as well as goal-kicking makes him a pretty special player.
Weepu has played 84 Super Rugby matches (250 points) and 46 Test matches (62 points).
He made his provincial debut in 2003 and his Super Rugby and All Blacks debut the following year.
As well as the All Blacks, Weepu has played for the Junior All Blacks and New Zealand Maori.
