New Zealand have claimed a convincing 19-6 win over Uzbekistan in their opening game at the World Water Polo Championships in Shanghai.
The New Zealanders completely dominated the Asian qualifiers leading 4-2 in the opening quarter, extending this to 9-3 at half time before coming home strongly to win 19-6.
It was New Zealand's largest win at a World Championship and Lower Hutt's Kirsten Hudson scored 6 goals in the match, a record for any New Zealand individual at World Championship level.
