The Australian men's hockey team has made an awful start to the Four Nations tournament in Germany, thrashed 6-1 by the Netherlands in Moenchengladbach.
Showing their back-to-back 4-2 and 4-0 defeats of New Zealand were no fluke, the Netherlands fielded a full-strength side against the Kookaburras, who were missing several stars, and handed the Australians a hockey lesson.
The hosts had a stranglehold by half-time when they led by four goals.
The Kookaburras face world number two Germany early on Monday.
