Too many opinions confusing players says Buchanan

Players in the Black Caps squad and on its fringes have received mixed messages with too many selectors voicing their opinions, according to New Zealand Cricket's director of cricket John Buchanan.

The former coach of Australia has announced a new two-member selection panel for the Black Caps, headed by national coach John Wright and a yet to be appointed national selection manager, although Mark Greatbatch will fill the role in the interim.

The new format means Glenn Turner and Lance Cairns lose their jobs on the selection panel.

Buchanan says there've been too many voices confusing the debate and the new format means players should get a clearer understanding of why they may have missed out on a national side.
