The Argentinian football great Diego Maradona says his successor as national coach must be "drunk" for suggesting Manchester City forward Carlos Tevez isn't needed for the South American Football Championship.
Sergio Batista said Tevez was not required because he had players like Barcelona's Lionel Messi and Real Madrid's Gonzalo Higuain who played in the same position.
Maradona, who this week agreed to a deal to coach a Dubai club, says a person would have to be "drunk or stoned" not to call up Tevez and that Messi is a different type of player.
Maradona took Argentina to the World Cup quarterfinals last year, but lost 4-nil to Germany.
Argentina hosts the Copa America in July.
