Steel lose to Swifts

7:37 am on 22 April 2011

The Southern Steel's unbeaten home record in the trans-Tasman netball competition has been ended by the New South Wales Swifts.

The Steel led 22-21 at half-time in Dunedin and were in front for most of the game, but the Swifts fought their way back into the contest and denied the home side a chance to level in the dying seconds to ensure the Sydneysiders remain in the top four to start the penultimate round.

After playing four games in 11 days, the Swifts now have nine days off before their final game of the regular season, on the road against the Melbourne Vixens on May 1, in a game that could decide the 2011 finalists.
