The Lakers have beaten the New Orleans Hornets 87-78 in Los Angeles to level their National Basketball Association western conference playoff series 1-1.
The top seeded San Antonio Spurs also tied up their first round NBA western conference playoff series, beating the Memphis Grizzlies 97-93 while the Oklahoma Thunder beat Denver 106-89 to go 2-0 up.
The defending champion Lakers were shocked in their series opening loss on Monday when New Orleans point guard Chris Paul ran riot, but they returned with a strong defensive effort and now head to New Orleans for game three on Saturday.
