The Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic are back in the top four of the trans-Tasman netball championship after a less than convincing 53-49 win over the Canterbury Tactix in Rotorua.
With nothing to lose the Tactix threw everything into the game but even a perfect shooting game from Donna Wilkins, who potted 30 goals from 30 attempts, could not completely shut out the home team.
It was a struggle all the way for Magic with the scores level at three-quarter time, before they gained some momentum in the final stanza to hold on for a hard-fought win.
Magic shooter Irene van Dyk rose to the occasion in the final quarter and she finished with 36 goals from 37 attempts.
Meanwhile the unbeaten Queensland Firebirds scored an emphatic 57-36 win over the Melbourne Vixens.
Queensland top the standings followed by the Northern Mystics, Magic and New South Wales Swifts.
