A first for the Central Pulse in netball's trans-Tasman championship -- until last night's 63-61 extra time win over the West Coast Fever in Porirua they'd never won two games in a season.
But the Queensland Firebirds' unbeaten run continued with a 53-49 home win over the Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic in goal shoot Irene van Dyk's 100th game for the Magic.
Only one goal separated the teams for most of the match in Brisbane which
both produced exceptional shooting accuracy of almost 90 per cent.
After their win over the Tactix two weeks ago the Pulse finally won a game in extra time after having to play a further 14 minutes six times in four seasons.
They led 30-26 at half-time and by seven early in the third quarter but the Fever had equalised by the start of the fourth and led with five minutes remaining.
It was 48-all at the start of extra time and the Pulse led by two after the first period and keep their composure under pressure in the last seven minutes.
The Firebirds lead with 18 points, six cleaar of the Magic, who're two ahead of the Melbourne Vixens and Northern Mystics while the Pulse are up to eighth on four points level with the Fever and two ahead of the Canterbury Tactix.
