The New Zealand women's hockey team has beaten Argentina 2-1 on Auckland's North Shore to level the three test series.

The Black Sticks drew the first test in Whangarei 1-all only to lose 6-1 at Albany last night.

The world champions encountered a much-improved defense though and 10 minutes from fulltime Clarissa Eshuis put the Black Sticks ahead.

Argentina equalised with three minutes left but striker Cathryn Finlayson scored her third goal of the series just before the hooter.
