Pakistani Prime Minister invited to World Cup semi-final

8:20 am on 28 March 2011

The Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has invited his Pakistani counterpart Yusuf Raja Gilani to the northern Indian town of Mohali to watch Wednesday's second semi-final at the Cricket World Cup.

It'll be the first match between the two sides in India since 166 people were killed in Mumbai in 2008 in an attack India blamed on Pakistan-based militants.

The two countries subsequently agreed to resume formal peace talks.

After beating England by 10 wickets at the weekend, Sri Lanka are overwhelming favourites to win tomorrow night's first semi-final in Colombo against the Black Caps, who qualified for their 6th World Cup semi-final with a 49-run win over South Africa.
