Six Nations tournament second rate

6:40 pm on 22 March 2011

The Six Nations is second division rugby compared to that of the southern hemisphere where the Super 15 franchises and the national sides play in the same style, says France coach Marc Lievremont.

Despite being beaten by England in the Six Nations and suffering a humiliating loss to Italy, after which Lievremont called his players cowards, he says France will still be the northern hemisphere side to beat at the World Cup.

Asked if the Six Nations was a second rate tournament when compared to the southern hemisphere he replied certainly.

He says being based in five Super franchises each country plays the same style of game and have half as many matches.
