Smeltz moving to Perth

The All Whites striker Shane Smeltz will play for the Perth Glory in the next A-League football season.

Smeltz's signature as the club's marquee player means Robbie Fowler's A-League career could be over.

Smeltz, who played for Gold Coast this season, has reportedly signed a deal worth around 1.6 million dollars over 3 years.

Smeltz has scored 42 goals in 66 A-League matches, the best goals-per-game ratio in the league, with only Archie Thompson (51) having scored more goals overall.

After a disastrous campaign last season, Perth have already started planning for the future with the acquisition of Adelaide captain Travis Dodd, Melbourne Heart defender Dean Heffernan, Wellington goalkeeper Danny Vukovic, Melbourne Victory left-back Evan Berger and Newcastle glovesman Neil Young.
