Magic beat Vixens, but Mystics lose

6:05 am on 22 March 2011

The Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic have scored an emphatic 53-41 victory over the Melbourne Vixens in their trans-Tasman netball clash at Mystery Creek.

Rebounding from last week's upset loss to the Mystics, the Magic came out firing and maintained that intensity throughout the match, leaving the Vixens to try and play catch-up netball.

Magic captain Laura Langman was thrilled that kick in the pants had inspired more urgency on every ball against the former ANZ champions.

It is the Magic's last match at Mystery Creek before they move to a new base at Claudelands.

Meanwhile the Northern Mystics were denied their first win on Australian soil, letting a final quarter lead slip to lose 57-55 to the Thunderbirds in Adelaide.

The unbeaten Queensland Firebirds top the standings with 12 points, the Magic have 10, New South Wales and Mystics 8.
