Manchester United's manager Alex Ferguson has been given a five-match touchline ban and fined 30,000 pounds for comments he made about the referee after his side's loss at Chelsea earlier this month.

Ferguson's comments about the ref included him saying he "feared the worst" when he heard Martin Atkinson was refereeing the game at Stamford Bridge.

The ban, which starts in five days, includes the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City at Wembley although it does not apply to Champions League matches.
