Crusaders match in London set to go

12:57 pm on 15 March 2011

The Crusaders are on the brink of confirming next week's Super Rugby clash with the Sharks will be held at Twickenham after a change of fixture date means the venue is now available.

The Christchurch based franchise last week asked the England Rugby Union, the RFU, if they could host the March the 26th fixture as AMI Stadium is unusable following last month's earthquake.

The RFU originally declined the request with Twickenham neighbours Harlequins playing a home game on the same day.

But Crusaders chief executive Hamish Riach says a tweaking of the date for the game against the South African side the Sharks, to March the 27th, means the game is now likely to go ahead.

Riach says there's a few logistical issues still to work through but he's hopeful the Twickenham match will be confirmed within the next 24 hours.
