Manchester United have knocked Arsenal out of English football's FA Cup.

United kept their treble dreams alive by beating the Gunners 2-0 in their quarter-final clash at Old Trafford with a goal in each half to Fabio and Wayne Rooney.

Goals from Fabio da Silva after 28 minutes and a 49th minute header from Wayne Rooney put United through to a record 27th semi-final which will be at Wembley Stadium next month.

Arsenal's exit from the venerable competition comes five days after the London side's Champions League elimination at Barcelona.

Bolton Wanderers ended Birmingham City's dream of an FA and League Cup double thanks to a 90th minute headed goal from Wanderers' South Korean player Lee Chung-yong.

Manchester City play Reading and Stoke City play West Ham United on Monday.
