The Sri Lankan batsman Mahela Jayawardene has taken legal advice over doubts raised in the media about the way he and another batsman performed during their World Cup loss to Pakistan last weekend.

Jayawardene and Thilan Samaraweera were dismissed for 2 and 1 respectively as they set about increasing the run rate, and a current affairs programme on a state-owned TV channel

accused the two batsmen of changing the course of the game which Sri Lanka lost by only 11 runs.

The programme also accused a businessman of betting 24-thousand dollars on Pakistan to win the match.
