Crusaders home games moved to Nelson

3:52 pm on 25 February 2011

The Crusaders will play their first two Super rugby home matches at Trafalgar Park in Nelson, following the closure of AMI Stadium in the wake of Tuesday's earthquake in Christchurch.

The Crusaders were scheduled to play the New South Wales Waratahs in Christchurch today week but that match will now be played in Nelson, along with the following round's match against ACT Brumbies on March 11th.

AMI Stadium will be closed until mid-March while a detailed damage assessment is carried out.

The New Zealand Rugby Union's chief executive Steve Tew says it will provide support staff for the matches in Nelson so Canterbury rugby union staff can concentrate on the aftermath of the earthquake.

Yesterday the Crusaders match against the Hurricanes, which was due to be played in Wellington tomorrow night, was cancelled.
