Nonu says sorry to Jimmy Cowan

Hurricanes second five eighth Ma'a Nonu, who's been suspended from rugby for one week, has apologised to his friend Jimmy Cowan.

Nonu appeared at a SANZAR judicial hearing in Wellington yesterday as a result of a sending off during the Hurricanes' loss against the Highlanders in Wellington on Friday night.

Nonu was later cited for the dangerous tackle on Highlanders halfback Jimmy Cowan, ten minutes into the second half.

The tackle was deemed to be at the lower end of the scale of seriousness, and mitigating factors included a written submission from Cowan in support of Nonu.

Nonu says he appreciates the gesture and apologises to Cowan.

Nonu's suspension means he won't play in the Hurricanes home match against the Crusaders this weekend.
