The Australian Formula One driver Mark Webber has expressed about whether the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix should go ahead as unrest in the country continues.

Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone says the decision whether to hold the race in three weeks time will be up to the Gulf state's crown prince.

Six people have been killed in protests aimed at bringing about political reform and Webber says it not the best time to go there for a sporting event as the country as bigger priorities.

Eccelstone has suggested the race could be postponed until later in the season.
