French international could get call from Rebels

The former French rugby international Frederik Michalak could be playing Sper Rugby some time this season, and his destination could be Melbourne.

The talented playmaker and goalkicker with 54 test caps, has just started his comeback with Toulouse, but he says he's interested in linking up with an unnamed Australian team, likely to be the new Melbourne Rebels franchise who have the extra latitude to sign up to 10 imports.

The Rebels are already looking for reinforcements following injuries at the weekend to five eight James Hilgendorf and flanker Hoani McDonald during their 43-nil mauling from the New South Wales Waratahs.

The Hurricanes centre Ma'a Nonu will find out today if he gets to face the Crusaders, and his All Blacks rival Sonny Bill Williams on Saturday.

Nonu was sent off during the Hurricanes for collecting two yellow cards in their loss to the Highlanders last Friday night.
