Wankhede Stadium fails fire safety check

6:04 am on 19 February 2011

Wankhede Stadium in Munbai, the venue for the Cricket World Cup final in early April, has not met fire safety standards.

The local fire chief says once organisers have met their terms they will inspect the stadium again.

The stadium has been recently renovated.

The stadium also failed an inspection by the International Cricket Council in December but earlier this week was given the go-ahead for its three World Cup matches starting on March 13th.
