Black Caps have quarterfinals on the brain ahead of World Cup

7:41 am on 18 February 2011

Two days out from New Zealand's first match of the cricket world cup all-rounder Scott Styris says the Black Caps have one simple goal at the tournament, and that's to reach the quarterfinals on the subcontinent.

Some would suggest this is a pessimistic approach by the New Zealand side, others, given the Black Caps horrific recent one day form, would suggest it's overly optimistic.

However Styris says making the quarter-finals in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lankan is the only thing on the Black Caps mind, as any team who reaches the knockout stage has a genuine chance of taking the Cup.

The Black Caps first game of the tournament is against Kenya in Chennai on Sunday.
