McCullum rates warm-up match rivals India as World Cup front-runners

The New Zealand cricket team square off against India in their final World Cup warm up match in Chennai tonight and batsman Brendon McCullum says a victory over the tournament hot favourites would be a massive boost before their first game of the Cup against Kenya on Saturday.

The Black Caps head into the match in a small patch of form having beaten Pakistan in New Zealand and Ireland in Nagpur in their last two one-dayers, but facing India, who cruised past Australia in their latest match, will be a far more daunting prospect.

McCullum says the Black Caps self-belief is high despite having won just three of their last 17 one-dayers but he concedes beating India, who New Zealand will likely have to face again in the knockout stages, will be a tough ask for any team on the subcontinent.
