NZ Football says it's appropriate Tayler steps down

New Zealand Football says it's appropriate that Halberg judge Dick Tayler resign after calling the All Whites unworthy recipients of the Supreme award.

Tayler, a Commonwealth Games gold medallist and former Halberg winner himself, says the All Whites failed to win a match at the World Cup in South Africa last year and the awards are about success.

He says the All Blacks, the Kiwis or the world champion rowing pair of Hamish Bond and Eric Murray would've been worthier recipients and he'll be re-signing from the voting panel in protest.

The chief executive of New Zealand football Michael Glading says that's appropriate and says someone who understands world football should take his place.
