Auckland's suffered a major setback to their hopes of winning the domestic one day cricket final against Canterbury in Christchurch this weekend with in form opener Tim McIntosh ruled out with a toe injury.

McIntosh clubbed 161 in the semi final win over Otago this week, but coach Paul Strang is confident the side still has the batting ability needed.

He says while McIntosh's innings against Otago was special the Auckland top order has been in good form this season and he's optmistic his side can turn around the major semi final loss they had to Canterbury.
