Struggling Swiss Formula One outfit Sauber looked to Mexico as it unveiled its new car for 2011 with rookie Sergio Perez launching his career in the sport and four sponsors from his country backing the team.
Perez, who turned 21 this month, will be the number two driver to Japan's Kumai Kubayashi in the new white and graphite-coloured Sauber C30-Ferrari.
The first Mexican to compete in Formula One for three decades, he arrives at Sauber with four major Mexican sponsors this year, including the Telmex telecommunications group.
Perez conceded his presence helped attract Mexican sponsors, but vowed to prove his talent the track.
Perez took his first Formula One test with Sauber in Abu Dhabi in November, after finishing as runner-up in GP2 championship.
He is not the only Mexican driver in the team, as Esteban Gutierrez is the reserve driver.
