The seven-times grand slam winner Justine Henin has been knocked out of the Australian tennis Open in the third round, the 11th-seed losing to Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-4 7-6 after a tight 79-minute second set.

The 2004 champion was last year's feelgood story in Melbourne when she reached the final after her return from retirement.

It's only the third time in 19 matches the Belgian's lost to the Russian 23rd-seed.

Kuznetsova will play French Open champion Francesca Schiavone in the fourth round.
